Find the Medford Elementary School you are zoned for

The Medford School District encompasses the cities of Medford, Jacksonville, Applegate and Ruch. I know some parents prefer to use the elementary school they are zoned for. If you live in the Medford School District, its easy to find your school. Enter your address into their system to find out what elementary school you are zoned for.

How to change the elementary school you are zoned for

Depending on your situation, you may be able to change which school your child is eligible to attend.

Intradistrict Transfer

If you are currently living in the Medford School District, you can request an intradistrict transfer. If the elementary school you’d like to transfer to has space, and your child meets their criteria, they may be approved to transfer. Apply for intradistrict transfers here.

Interdistrict Transfer

If you are currently living outside the Medford School District, you will need to request your current school district release you. Each school district handles that process differently. Give them a call or check their websites for more info. They will likely require paperwork and an exit interview. In my research, I’ve found some districts don’t mind releasing students, and others are reluctant.

Once you’ve been released, you can request an interdistrict transfer. If the elementary school you’d like to transfer to has space, and your child meets their criteria, they may be approved to transfer. Apply for interdistrict transfers here.

Do we need to request a release if we’ve never enrolled in our zoned school system?

Yes. Even if you’re just beginning Kindergarten or just moved to a new address, you must still be released from the school system you are zoned for.

You will be responsible for your child’s transportation to attend a school not in your zone.
